MANILA, Philippines -- The San Beda Red Lions inched closer to nabbing a twice-to-beat bonus in the NCAA men's basketball with a 101-67 blowout of the Lyceum Pirates on Friday.
Lyceum tried but failed to avenge its 89-69 first round loss to San Beda as the Lions blitzed away with a fast-paced game.
Kyle Pascual led the Red Lions with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
San Beda dictated the tempo very early, zooming to a 30-14 lead in the 1st quarter.
The Red Lions compiled a total of 18 fast-break points in the first half alone.
Chico Lanete teamed up with Kyle and Jake Pascual to pile up a 22-point advantage for San Beda in the third, 71-49.
The Red Lions didn't let up in the final quarter, scoring 30 points against the Pirates' 18.
San Beda, currently at No. 2, improved its record to 14-2 to distance itself from 3rd placer Letran.
Lyceum absorbed its 10th loss in 16 games.
