MANILA, Philippines – Defending champions Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) Blue Eagles posted a 31-26 halftime lead over the De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers in their semifinal faceoff on Saturday’s UAAP men’s basketball at the Araneta Coliseum.

Ateneo was leading over La Salle, 10-9, when Thomas Torres hit a long trey, giving La Salle a 12-10 lead in the first quarter.

But a series of plays by the Eagles tied the game 12-all before Justin Chua swished in both of his charities for a 14-12 advantage in favor of Ateneo.

In the second quarter, the Archers reclaimed the lead on an undergoal stab by Yutien Andrada, 15-14.

Nico Salva and Kiefer Ravena began making their presence felt in the second quarter, with Ateneo tying the game at 23-all.

After a shootout between Almond Vosotros and Juami Tiongson, Salva broke the tie for Ateneo, 28-26.

Ravena helped widen the gap to 31-26.

Salva is leading the Eagles with 12 points.

Ateneo enjoys a twice-to-beat bonus over La Salle.

A win over the Archers automatically sends the Eagles to the Finals against the University of Sto. Tomas Growling Tigers.
