Ginebra-Meralco match opens road tour

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine basketball Association (PBA) will hold a total of six out-of-town games in the coming Philippine Cup.

According to the league’s official website, Barangay Ginebra will tangle against Meralco in Digos City in Davao Del Sur on October 13, two weeks after the 2013 season begins.

This will be followed by the face off between defending champion Talk ‘N Text and Rain or Shine in Victorias City in Negros Occidental on October 27.

Three more provincial games will take place in November with Alaska facing San Mig Coffee in Lapu-Lapu City (November 10), and Rain or Shine battling Air21 in Tubod, Lanao del Norte (November 17).

The Petron versus Barako Bull tiff on November 24 could take place either in Puerto Princesa or Iloilo City.

Global Port faces Alaska in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte in a date still to be announced.

PBA chief Chito Salud said five out-of-town games are also going to be held in each of the two other conferences.

“It has been the advocacy of the PBA season after season to always bring the games closer to the fans especially in the provinces where the league enjoys a tremendous following as well,” said Salud.
