MANILA, Philippines - World Boxing Council No. 5 contender and Philippine champion Dennis Laurente returns to action as he slugs it out with Indonesian Jamed Jalarante in the main event of the “Boxing Kontra Droga” card on Saturday at the Elorde Sports Center Ballroom in Sucat.
The 10-round clash, set at 6 p.m., serves as part of Laurente’s tuneup for a possible crack in the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez IV showdown on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas.
Presented by businessman/sportsman Johnny Elorde in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Manila 101, headed by president and boxing icon Manny Pacquiao and backed by Cobra Energy Drink and the PCSO, the event will benefit Elorde Boxing’s drive to eradicate the use of illegal drugs among the youth.
Juan Miguel Elorde, grandson of the late great Gabriel “Flash” Elorde, will fight Arjet Caballes of Batangas in a much awaited clash over six rounds in one of the supporting bouts.
