MANILA, Philippines – Fighting congressman Manny Pacquiao admitted that he has committed a big mistake during his third bout against Juan Manuel Marquez last November.
The eight-division champion said he underestimated Marquez during their last fight because he was physically bigger than the Mexican.
"In the last fight I took Marquez too lightly because I was the bigger man physically,” said Pacquiao in RingTV.
Pacquiao won via majority decision during their third encounter but was humiliated by Marquez’s effective counterpunching.
Pacquiao promised that things will be different when they tangle again on December 8.
“I want this fight to be different from the last one. I want a win that isn’t close like the last three. It has to be a decisive victory," he said.
Pacquiao said part of their strategy is finding new ways to address Marquez’s fighting style.
He added that he will have to bring back his old hungry self.
“I have to study and train using new techniques and strategy and apply techniques never used in my previous fights. I will fight and train like the old Manny; the 25-year-old Manny," he said.
