MANILA, Philippines – Venezuelan champion Jean Piero Perez refused to be intimidated by Milan Melindo’s undefeated status.
Perez, the former World Boxing Association (WBA) interim flyweight champion, even said Melindo will have a tough time beating him.
“I don’t usually watch the fight of my opponents in tapes but I heard he (Melindo) is fast and a very good technical boxer,” said Perez in The Freeman.
“Melindo hasn’t lost a fight but I can say that every fight is different and a fight against me will be something hard for him.”
Perez will be fighting Melindo at the main event of Pinoy Pride XVI: Venezuelan Invasion this coming Saturday.
At stake in the bout taking place at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino In Cebu is the World Boxing Organization international flyweight championship.
Perez’s trainer Francisco Arroyo of Panama claimed that his ward has the capability to knockout the unbeaten Filipino.
“I don’t want to predict the outcome, but I can say that my boxer has power and a knockout will come if there will be a chance,” said Arroyo.
