The camp of world junior-flyweight king Milan Melindo has already heard of Hekkie Budler’s pronouncements, but it won't make a big deal out of them.

Coach Edito “ALA” Villamor shrugged off statements made by the South African challenger’s group as mere mind games.

"We’re going there to win, end of the story,” Budler's coach Colin Nathan was quoted as saying in a previous article. “We have a solid game plan, or two or three . . . Hekkie is fit, strong and willing. Nothing scares him."

To that, Villamor responded: “It's just part of psywar.”

However, this doesn’t mean Team Melindo is underestimating Budler.

“Kasi ang kalaban namin is a former WBA super champion and current IBO world junior flyweight champion,” Villamor said.

“And he's very popular in South Africa. So pinaghandaan namin talaga ang labang ito.”

The fight will be the main event of "Pinoy Pride 42," which is set to take place at Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu.

Villamor said he expects Budler to come in well-prepared and with good conditioning.

The ALA Boxing head coach said Melindo is on track to make weight and will have no difficulty tipping the scales at the prescribed 108 pounds.

“Sa ngayon nasa 5 pounds away na lang kami sa limit,” Villamor said, adding that his group of trainers has worked extensively on Melindo’s timing to make sure Budler will feel every punch thrown at him by the world champ.

“Iyong timing talaga ang importante, kapag hindi mo na-timing hindi mo mapabagsak ang isang tao.”
