MANILA, Philippines – Former champion and now challenger Vitor Belfort promised to pull off a stunning finish when he goes up against light heavyweight champion Jon Jones in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 152.
Hinting that he’s nearing his retirement, the 35-year-old Brazilian superstar said he wanted to go out in spectacular fashion just like how he began his UFC career more than a decade ago.
“I'm at the point that I'm ending my career, but I'm gonna finish as strong as the start,” said Belfort in UFC.com.
Belfort understands he is coming in as a huge underdog against the 25-year-old Jones. Aside from the age and the four-inch height advantage, Jones also uses an unorthodox fighting style that could baffle the older Belfort.
But Belfort said he is capable of finding ways to win.
“Everyone is beatable,” said the fighter nicknamed “The Phenom.” “I just have to find the point, when and how.”
