MANILA, Philippines – Picking another fight against Juan Manuel Marquez is a terrible move for Manny Pacquiao, according to ESPN boxing analyst Dan Rafael.
Rafael believes that Pacquiao has already benefitted from two controversial decisions over Marquez.
“How many times can you keep going back to the well? This time they may finally give it to Marquez,” the boxing analyst said in ESPN.com.
Rafael said Pacquiao and his promoter, Bob Arum, may have seen Marquez as a more profitable fight which is why they have decided to give it another go.
“A lot of it comes out due to finances, a lot of it comes out due to Pacquiao's preferences. The promoter, Bob Arum, crunched his numbers, they believe that they can do a much bigger number, much bigger gate in terms of money at the fight in terms of pay-per-view," said Rafael.
Marquez is one of Pacquiao’s options for the December 8 bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The other candidate is World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Timothy Bradley, which Rafael branded as the easier fight for Pacquiao.
