The Los Angeles Lakers will reportedly retire Kobe Bryant's jersey number on December 18, the night the only NBA team he's ever played for will take on the defending champion Golden State Warriors.
The last time Bryant was on the Staples Center hard court, he lit up the Utah Jazz for 60 points in one of the most memorable farewell games in the history of North American professional sports.
TMZ Sports first reported the story.
But which jersey will the Lakers retire — No. 8, which he used when he won 3 titles with Shaquille O'Neal, or No. 24, which he wore the year he won MVP and 2 more championships?
Or will it be both?
According to TMZ: "The Lakers aren't officially acknowledging it — but the team sent a letter to Lakers season ticket holders advising them to 'hold on to your tickets for the game on Dec. 18' for a 'special event.' "
