MANILA, Philippines – The long wait could finally end tomorrow.
Boxing promoter Bob Arum and Manny Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz have both indicated to boxing journalist Ronnie Nathanielsz that Pacquiao will reveal his choice of opponent on Thursday, September 13.
This after weeks of Pacquiao withholding his pick between Juan Manuel Marquez and Timothy Bradley.
“We will know who he (Pacquiao) is fighting, the date is December 8 and it’s going to be at the MGM Grand and we’ll know the opponent and everything is a done deal,” Arum told Nathanielsz in Philboxing.
Although there were reports about Arum arranging a fourth meeting between Pacquiao and Marquez, the boxing promoter maintained that the choice remains “officially” between Bradley and Marquez.
“You can use your intuition to figure out who it’s going to be,” he said.
Pacquiao already fought Marquez three times, with each one ending in controversy.
In 2004, he knocked down the Mexican thrice in the first round only to be given a draw.
Four years later, the Filipino came out with a split decision win against Marquez in a 12-round slug fest.
Pacquiao again escaped with a victory against the Mexican by hammering out a majority decision last November.
The fighting congressman then lost his World Boxing Organization welterweight belt to Bradley in a controversial split decision loss last June.
