PBA: Ginebra keeps streak alive, tops Blackwater for 7th win in a row

Greg Slaughter led all Barangay Ginebra scorers with 22 points, powering the defending champions to a 98-81 win over Blackwater in the PBA Governors' Cup on Friday.

Greg Slaughter scored 22 points off the bench, and Barangay Ginebra used a strong fourth quarter to down Blackwater 98-81 in the PBA Governors’ Cup at Mall of Asia Arena Friday.

The defending champions trailed 71-69 after 3 quarters but outscored Blackwater 29-10 in the final 12 minutes to pick up their seventh win in 8 games.

Ginebra’s 4-headed monster was key.

Justin Brownlee finished with 17 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks. Joe Devance chipped in 15 points and 3 3-pointers, while Japeth Aguilar had 10 points and 3 blocks.

Slaughter also had 8 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Thanks to its bigs and high-percentage shots, Ginebra shot 49% from the field (39 of 79), compared to Blackwater’s 32% (29 of 90).

Blackwater dropped to 4-5.
