He's willing to leave boxing, politics over faith

MANILA, Philippines – Fighting congressman Manny Pacquiao again talks about his eventual exit from boxing.

Pacquiao told Boy Abunda in an interview in Bandila on Friday that if it is God’s will, he will leave boxing and politics to become a full-time preacher.

“Willing po ako pagdating sa Panginoon, isinu-surrender ko ang sarili ko sa Panginoon kung anumang mangyari,” he said.

The Filipino boxer, who earned the distinction of being the only 8-division champion, said his wife has reminded him of their agreement that he’ll retire while he’s still healthy.

“Malapit na po siguro, kasi ang asawa ko, sabi niya ‘Alam mo na ‘yung ano... malapit ka nang mag-retiro,’” he said.

He added that his children also could not bear the sight of him absorbing punches in the ring.

“[‘Yung mga anak ko rin], umiiyak na sila pag nasasaktan ako,” said Pacquiao.
