MANILA, Philippines – Conditioning coach Alex Ariza has cautioned Manny Pacquiao about the downside of taking another Juan Manuel Marquez fight.
Although the name of Pacquiao’s next opponent has not been revealed, there are speculations that the fighting congressman is leaning on a fourth bout against Marquez.
“[It] is not going to be easy,” Ariza told Philboxing.com’s Ronnie Nathanielsz about another grinding 12-rounder against the gritty Mexican.
Pacquiao and Marquez have already figured in three monumental ring battles.
In 2004, the Mexican salvaged a draw despite being knocked down thrice by Pacquiao in the first round.
The Filipino boxer got back at Marquez in 2008 by edging the Mexican by split decision.
Last November, Pacquiao won again over Marquez via majority decision.
All of their fights ended in controversy.
Ariza said that if Pacquiao could duplicate his training regimen when he was preparing against Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton and Miguel Cotto, he’ll have a great chance of pulling off a convincing win over marquez.
“He has to go back to the old ways of training, focus more on the other stuff,” the conditioning coach said.
