It looks like there is a chance that Gilas Pilipinas might face one of its own when the national team competes in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup later this month.
Gilas was awarded a wild card in the competition after Japanese club SunRockers Shibuya was forced to withdraw due to scheduling issues, according to FIBA.com.
But Andray Blatche, Gilas’ naturalized player, isn't expected to be with Team Philippines and instead will suit up for China Kashgar, which he led to the title last year.
Gilas was without Blatche in the FIBA Asia Cup last month apparently because of security concerns over host city Beirut, Lebanon.
The Champions Cup will take place in Chenzhou, China, from September 22-30.
Gilas will be clustered with BC Astana (Kazakhstan), Mono Vampire BC (Thailand), Petrochimi (Iran), Sarreyet Ramallah (Palestine) in Group A.
China Kashgar belonged with Al Shabab Al Ahli (UAE), ONGC (India), Al Riyadi (Lebanon) and Dacin Tigers (Taipei) in Group B.
