MANILA, Philippines – Mixed martial arts (MMA) featherweight champion Jose Aldo sustained minor injuries after being struck by a car while riding his motorcycle in Brazil over the weekend.
According to MMA Fighting, Aldo was riding home when a vehicle collided with his motorcycle in the neighborhood of Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro.
“The motorist immediately stopped to check on the fighter, while surprised onlookers reportedly began asking the champion for autographs,” stated the report.
Aldo suffered a few scratches and a swollen foot.
The Brazilian fighter is scheduled to defend his title against Frankie Edgar in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 153 on October 15.
Aldo's coach, Nova Uniao, has reportedly forbid the featherweight champion from riding a motorcycle.
