Batang Gilas beats Japan for FIBA U-18 5th place

MANILA - Batang Gilas defeated Japan, 113-105, and clinched 5th place in the FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship in Doha, Qatar, on Thursday.

Kobe Paras led Batang Gilas, scoring 27 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, while teammate Jollo Go chipped in 24 points.

While Paras and Go were the team's highest scorers, it was Ranbill Tongco who was the key to the win after sinking a buzzer-beating trey to force the game to overtime at 93-93.

Batang Gilas earlier defeated Kazakhzstan, 86-74, in the tournament.
