MANILA, Philippines – Jose Rizal University (JRU) aims to rejoin Perpetual Help and College of St. Benilde at third place as it clashes with Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Friday in the NCAA Season 90 men's basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

The Bombers, currently in fifth place with a 6-4 win-loss record, were in solo third entering the second round but lost to Letran, 77-84, in overtime last week.

They will have a chance to regain at least a share of third place when they play the Generals at 2:00 p.m.

Ending up undrafted in last Sunday's PBA Rookie Draft, Philip Paniamogan will be a man on a mission as he tries to prove doubters wrong.

"(I) just want to play and help the team," said Paniamogan.

Paniamogan, who finished second to St. Benilde's Travis Jonson in the NCAA All-Star's three-point shootout, is not only the Bombers' go-to guy but also one of the league's leading scorers. He has averaged 18.0 points per game, second only to Perpetual Help's Juneric Baloria (20.91 ppg).

Paniamogan's field goal percentage is subpar, however, at 34%, though his free throw shooting (84%) is solid.

"Defense is the backbone of this team, but when it comes to scoring, we rely on him," JRU coach Vergel Meneses said of Paniamogan.

In the second game, San Sebastian (3-8) clashes with Mapua (1-10) in a showdown of last-placed teams at 4:00 p.m.
