MANILA, Philippines – Alaska Milk barged into the win column in the PBA Governors' Cup by manhandling defending champion Rain or Shine, 94-79, at the MOA Arena on Wednesday.
Wendell McKines scored 30 points, while Jayvee Casio tallied 21 to help the Aces bounce back from their 91-88 loss to GlobalPort last Friday.
The Aces sensed lack of urgency from the Elasto Painters’ defense, which allowed Casio to burn the hoops from the three-point area.
Further hurting Rain or Shine's cause was the absence of its star player Paul Lee, who had to sit the game out because of a sprained ankle.
The Elasto Painters were in trouble after two quarters when the Aces erected a 12 points lead, 46-34.
Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao was ejected from the game in the fourth period for berating the referees.
Arizona Reid paced Rain or Shine with 22 points and 15 rebounds.
It was the Elasto Painters’ second straight loss since absorbing a 84-99 defeat from Petron Blaze last Friday.
