MANILA, Philippines – Cagayan Valley defeated PLDT Home Telpad, while Philippine Army trounced Philippine Air Force to set up a title showdown in the Shakey's V-League Season 11 Open Conference Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.

Cagayan Valley defeated PLDT Home, 25-20, 12-25, 25-19, and 26-24, to sweep their best-of-three semi-finals series and earn a berth in the finals.

Even the surprise appearance of DinDin Santiago and Carmina Aganon could not lift PLDT Home, as Aiza Maizo came up with 22 points and Pau Soriano and Janine Marciano combined for 21 points for Cagayan Valley.

"We were not really surprised that (Santiago and Aganon) played," said Cagayan coach Nes Pamilar. "We came in ready, and we knew that it will be hard for them to gel fast with the Turbo Boosters."

"We concentrated on finding ways to limit Sue (Roces), which we did successfully," he added.

Santiago had 15 kills but the rest of the Turbo Boosters faltered against Cagayan's net defense.

The Rising Suns had beaten the Turbo Boosters, 25-11, 16-25, 25-14 and 25-20 in game one of their series last Thursday.

Meanwhile, Army swept Air Force, 25-11, 25-20, and 25-22, with Rachel Ann Daquis, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Mary Jane Balse, and Nerissa Bautista all scoring in double digits.

Daquis, who struggled in Army's Game 1 win, scored 11 points while Gonzaga added 13 and Balse scored 12. Bautista added 10 points for Army.

In contrast, Air Force's offense sputtered, with Maika Ortiz scoring only nine points.

Game 1 of the best-of-three Finals will start on Thursday.
