MANILA, Philippines – National Basketball Association (NBA) legends visiting the Philippines met their counterparts from the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) on Wednesday.

The basketball stars then jointly taught kids how to play the sport as part of the NBA Asia Challenge at the Araneta Coliseum.

“It was a great opportunity to teach the Filipino kids, they had fun, we had fun and we all had a wonderful time,” said NBA star Gary Payton.

Payton and other NBA legends like Glen Rice, Chris Webber and Mitch Richmond were joined by PBA players Rico Maierhoffer, Ronald Tubid, Dondon Hontiveros, Alvin Patrimonio, Benjie Paras and Ronnie Magsanoc.
The players will play against each other this Friday at the Araneta Coliseum.

“They are a bunch of really good players, so I’m very excited for Friday for sure we're gonna put on a great show,” said Webber.

For Magsanoc, sharing the hard court with the NBA legends is a dream come true.

“Dati pinapanood lang namin sila sa TV tapos ngayon magkakasama kami sa court. Sama-sama kami, mga NBA players at mga PBA players na nakapagbigay ng saya para sa mga bata,” he said. -- ANC
