MANILA, Philippines -- Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao confirmed that he has already spoken with Paul Lee over the player's request to be traded to another PBA team.

Guiao, however, said the 25-year-old shooting guard was vague regarding his intentions.

"Ang sabi lang niya, he will pay his respects and personally talk to the owners [and] myself pagbalik niya," the Rain or Shine coach said during the 2014 PBA Rookie Draft proceedings on Sunday.

Guiao said he remains doubtful over Lee's plans as the former University of the East (UE) standout has a good working relationship with the team.

The coach added that Lee also achieved a lot as an Elasto Painter.

"Sabi ko ang ganda ng samahan natin. Pamilya tayo, Rookie of the Year ka, nag-champion tayo, perennial contenders tayo, nag-national contender ka galing sa Rain or Shine, binigyan ka ng maximum salary. Bakit? Ano pa ang hahanapain ng isang player?" Guiao said.

Lee, whose contract with Rain or Shine is due to expire this month, was offered a three-year contract extension worth P15.12 million, which translates to P420,000 a month.

The salary is the most a team can offer based on league rules.

But Lee, through his agent Lawrence Chongson, said he wanted out of the team.

Lee is currently with Gilas Pilipinas in Spain where they are set to compete in the FIBA World Cup of Basketball.

"Wala namang problema, we can wait until he's back," said Guiao. "He can still change his mind, mabait na bata si Paul. It is not in his character to be rebellious or anything like that."

"If ever' pag nakaayusan 'yan I'm sure he'll go back to play his best again."
