Michael Jordan accepts Ice Bucket Challenge

MANILA – National Basketball Association (NBA) great Michael Jordan has accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, a fund-raising and awareness campaign to help fight Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or "Lou Gehrig's disease."

Jordan has been nominated by fellow superstars David Beckham, Ray Allen and Derek Jeter.

In turn, Jordan nominated the entire 1992 US Olympic Dream Team, including his Chicago Bulls coach Phil Jackson, to do the same.

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has become a widespread internet phenomenon among celebrities and citizens alike. The challenge dares nominated participants to be filmed having a bucket of ice water or cold water dumped on their heads. They then challenge others to do the same.

Several Philippine personalities, including members of Gilas Pilipinas, Nonito Donaire Jr., and Lea Salonga have jumped on the bandwagon.

Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao has also been nominated by Chris Algieri, ONE FC President Victor Cui, and Donaire to do the challenge.
