MANILA, Philippines – NBA fever hit the SM Mall of Asia once again over the long weekend as the mall hosted the final day of the NBA 3X Philippines 2012.

The NBA 3X, a unique 3-on-3 basketball competition, was being held in the Philippines for the second straight year. Hoops fans were given a treat as boys and girls of all skill levels battled for top honors while men and women competed in an open division.

The NBA 3X also featured try-outs for the Sprite Uncontainable Game. Filipino finalists were selected to be part of the global pool from which reigning Most Valuable Player LeBron James and five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant will choose their teams. [http://www.sprite.com/game]

The chosen players were Ameen Saroduk and Chack Cabinbin. The two players will have a chance to be chosen for either James’ Team Sudden or Bryant’s Team Intense.

The Uncontainable Game is an international basketball program sponsored by Sprite, wherein they teamed up with six NBA players to discover 24 of the most creative undiscovered amateur basketball players from around the world.

These players will represent either Team Sudden or Team Intense in the Sprite Uncontainable Game at the 2013 NBA All-Star Weekend in Houston, Texas.

An online poll will determine the winners who will be flown to Houston.

There was also a celebrity edition of the 3-on-3 games featuring teams of models, actors, former college stars, and Kabarkada sportscasters from Studio 23.

Brooklyn Nets big man Brool Lopez was the guest of honor in the event, who shared that he has long wanted to visit the Philippines because he had a Filipino classmate in high school.

Along with Lopez were the Charlotte Lady Cats Dancers, the two-time defending Best Dance Team in the NBA, and Stuff the Magic Dragon, the mascot of the Orlando Magic.
