MANILA, Philippines – Gilas Pilipinas guards Jayson Castro and Paul Lee are both day-to-day due to nagging injuries with just nine days to go before the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain.
Lee has sat out the national team's last couple tune-up games, while Castro suffered an ankle injury in their loss to the Basque team Wednesday morning.
Gilas assistant coach Josh Reyes on Thursday morning revealed in an Instagram post that according to an MRI, Castro suffered no structural damage, although his left ankle was encased in a walking boot.
"Still swelling in his Achilles though," Reyes said of Castro. "Jayson's status is day-to-day. Paul Lee is the same status."
Both Lee and Castro will not be able to play in Gilas' next tune-up game against Angola in San Sebastian, Spain later Thursday.
The national team is mired in a four-game losing streak, having dropped all of their assignments in a pocket tournament in France and then bowing to Euzkadi-Basque.
