MANILA, Philippines – Juan Manuel Marquez should get a big pay if he gets another shot at Manny Pacquiao, according to boxing trainer Robert Garcia.
Garcia, who trains Filipino superstar Nonito Donaire Jr., said Marquez is already a legend and therefore deserving of a hefty pay.
"He deserves to get paid too," Garcia stated in Examiner.
"I don't know what the offers were or what he's asking for, but he's also a legend and he's had those fights against Pacquiao.”
Marquez received $5 million in the third of his three bouts against Pacquiao.
In contrast, the fighting congressman reportedly received $22 million for the faceoff.
Pacquiao won the fight but it was a controversial unanimous decision.
Garcia believes Marquez was the victor of that tiff.
“I thought he beat him (Pacquiao) the last fight. He deserves to get paid," said the boxing trainer.
