MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine national under-18 basketball team will kick off their campaign in the FIBA-Asia Under-18 Championship against Jordan Wednesday afternoon at the Al-Gharafa Gym in Doha, Qatar.
Batang Gilas earned a bye to the second round, as they are part of Group B that only features three teams instead of four.
Their campaign in the tournament begins at 2 p.m. against a Jordan team that lost to South Korea in its first game, 95-38.
Batang Gilas will then play South Korea on Thursday, also at 2 p.m.
The team features former La Salle Greenhills star Kobe Paras and is coached by Jamike Jarin, who also spearheaded the campaign of the Philippine team that competed in the FIBA Under-17 World Championship in Dubai earlier this month.
At stake in the competition are three berths to the 2015 FIBA Under-19 World Championship.
