MANILA, Philippines -- San Beda and La Salle Greenhills try to extend their reigns in their respective divisions when the 90th NCAA swimming competitions comes off the wraps on Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Swimming Pool.
The Sea Lions are gunning for a 13th straight championship and 17th overall, while the Junior Blazers shoot for an 11th title in row and 17th overall in an event organized by Arellano University's Management Committee representative Peter Cayco.
San Beda's 17th swim championships still paled in comparison with Mapua's 41, which remained a league benchmark in the seniors division until now.
For La Salle Greenhills, it will try to inch closer to San Beda and Mapua, the most titled teams in high school swimming with 22 and 21, respectively.
The Sea Lionesses, for their part, will aim for a fourth straight crown in the women's side, a feat that started when they snatched the title away from the Lady Blazers, who took the first two titles in 2009 and 2010 when women's swimming was still a demonstration sport.
