Fr. Martin Cup: Letran, NU notch victories

MANILA, Philippines – The National University (NU) Bulldogs, the Letran-A Knights, and the National College of Business and Arts (NCBA) defeated separate foes last Saturday in the 12th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup at the St. Placid Gym in San Beda.

Kim Cinco, Reggie Morido and Cedrick Labing-isa came through with double-digit outputs as they led the Bulldogs to an 88-55 demolition of Letran-B.

Cinco scored a game-high 15 points, Morido added 14 points and Labing-isa had 10 for the Bulldogs, who posted their fourth straight win in Group C.

The Bulldogs quickly took charge of the game, posting a 21-13 advantage in the opening quarter.

Meanwhile, the Letran-A Knights swamped St. Michael-Laguna, 83-59, to pick up their first win in two games in Group A.

The NCBA Wildcats turned back the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, 82-74, behind the 16-point performance of CJ Catura for their first win in three matches in Group B.

In another seniors games, the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers needed an extra period to get past the La Salle Green Archers, 82-80, in Group A.

In other matches, the University of Perpetual Help Altas demolished the Enderun College Titans, 61-48, while the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals prevailed over the University of the East Warriors, 65-59, last Sunday at Far Eastern University gym in Morayta, Manila.

In the juniors division, the Angeles University Foundation crushed the Lyceum Philippines University Pirates, 64-58, while the Far Eastern University Baby Tamaraws won over the San Beda Red Cubs, 58-51.

In other junior games, the San Sebastian Staglets stopped St. Jude, 64-53, and the NU Bullpups edged the Adamson Baby Falcons, 69-66.
