MANILA – A rookie policeman ran a total of 280 kilometers and won the South to North Ultra Marathon recently held in Cebu.

Police Officer 1 (PO1) Brian Lou Guillen, who competed against his colleagues, finished the race in 51 hours 13 minutes and 38 seconds.

"Before I joined the 280K ultra marathon, I also joined the Hardcore 100 Miles (160 kilometers) Ultra Marathon held last January and this served as my stepping stone to join the longest known ultra marathon in Asia," said Guillen of the Lapu-Lapu City Police.

Guillen completed the Hardcore 100 Miles in 24 hours and 7 minutes early this year despite the strong wind brought by typhoon Basyang.

"All of these I achieved through God's grace, guidance and protection, and through the support of my family, friends, team mates and co-workers," he said.
