UE continues winning streak in boys' volleyball

MANILA, Philippines – Defending champion University of the East (UE) continued to steamroll the opposition by posting straight sets victories in the UAAP Season 77 boys volleyball tournament over the weekend at the Adamson Gym.

The Junior Warriors overwhelmed National University (NU) in a rematch of last season's championship, 25-17, 25-22, and 25-11 on Saturday and then defeated University of Santo Tomas (UST), 25-9, 25-17, and 25-22 on Sunday.

UE is still unbeaten in five matches.

Meanwhile, the Bullpups rebounded from Saturday's loss to UE with a 21-25, 27-25, 25-22, and 27-25 win over Ateneo on Sunday to improve to 4-1.

On Saturday, the Tiger Cubs beat UP Integrated School (UPIS), 25-9, 25-17, and 25-20, while the Blue Eaglets down Far Eastern University (FEU)-Diliman, 25-12, 25-16, and 25-20.

UST and Ateneo are tied for third place with identical 3-4 win-loss records.

In the lone five-setter match over the weekend, the Baby Tamaraws overcame La Salle-Zobel to fashion out a 25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 24-26, and 15-9 win.

In girls play, NU downed titleholder UST in their Season 75 Finals rematch, 25-19, 25-16, and 25-23 on Saturday to remain unbeaten in foru games.

UE defeated UPIS, 25-21, 25-15, 25-14, while La Salle-Zobel whipped FEU-Diliman, 25-7, 25-15, 25-10.
