MANILA, Philippines – Perpetual Help's Juneric Baloria and Arellano University's John Pinto emerged as the ACCEL Quantum-3XVI NCAA Press Corps Players of the Week after coming through with clutch performances for their teams.

Baloria erupted for a league season-high 32 points, including six three-pointers, to power the Altas to a come-from-behind 85-82 victory over the Letran Knights last Saturday, which gave them a share of the third spot with the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers.

The 23-year-old Baloria, a Lanao del Norte native who was discovered by Perpetual Help coach Aric del Rosarion while playing in the streets of Angeles City, Pampanga, scored 10 points in the final quarter.

His scoring outburst included a three-pointer and a three-point play that pushed his team to within a point, and a steal and a lay-up to give the Altas the marginal lead.

Meanwhile, the Davao-native Pinto came through with the biggest plays in the dying seconds to lift the Chiefs to a pulsating 67-66 squeaker over the College of St. Benilde last Friday to improve to 7-2, or just half a game behind four-peat champion San Beda in the league standings.

Baloria and Pinto are both trying to go out with a bang as they are turning pros this year.

"I want to help my team win its first NCAA championship before I turn pro," said Baloria.

"I just want to give it my all and help my team because this is my last season," said Pinto.
