MANILA, Philippines – Former NBA star Ron Artest is changing his name, yet again.
The former LA Lakers player, who took name Metta World Peace, will now be known as "The Pandas Friend."
He signed a one-year deal worth $1.43 million with the Sichuan Blue Whales in China, according to the LA Times.
He started playing in NBA in 1999, and was best known for his stint in Los Angeles.
After the 2011 NBA season, he changed his name to Metta World Peace.
He later transferred to the New York Knicks before signing a deal with the Sichuan Blue Whales.
He said he is changing his name to befit his new playing environment in China.
The 34-year-old averaged 13.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists during his playing years in the NBA.
