MANILA – Ateneo's men's and women's badminton titles are at stake in UAAP Season 77 which kicks off on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Badminton Hall.

Seeking another championship double, the Lady Eagles are eyeing a third consecutive tiara, while the Blue Eagles are gunning for a back-to-back romp.

Bianca Carlos, last season’s Rookie MVP, knows Ateneo is marked for the season with De La Salle and University of the Philippines tagged as major contenders.

"Of course, there’s pressure because we are the champions last year," said Carlos.

The Lady Eagles, who have been perfect in 18 matches since Season 75, will take on the Lady Maroons in Court 4 at 1 p.m.

In the men’s division, Ateneo will face stiff opposition from former champion National University and perennial contender University of Santo Tomas. The Eagles battle the Growling Tigers also in Court 4 at 9 a.m.

"We'll just do our best kasi I know they (other teams) are preparing as well," said Ateneo's reigning MVP Patrick Natividad.

Other scheduled women’s games starting at 1 p.m. are UST against Adamson in Court 2, De La Salle against Far Eastern University in Court 3, and University of the East against NU in Court 5.

At 9 a.m., men’s games will pit De La Salle against Adamson University in Court 2, NU against University of the Philippines in Court 3, and FEU against UE in Court 5.
