MANILA, Philippines – American boxer Chris Algieri has lashed out at critics saying he is only looking for a huge payday in his Manny Pacquiao fight.

“Mark my words, I'm coming in fully prepared and I'm sure Manny knows this and Freddie knows this as well. I'm coming to win this fight, I'm not here to get a payday, I'm not here just to fight Manny Pacquiao,” said Algieri in Boxing Scene.

The New Yorker seemed to have been slighted by speculations that he will be showing up in the ring just to get his $1-million guaranteed paycheck for the bout.

But Algieri has never lost in his 20-fight professional career. Out of those 20 victories, 8 of his opponents failed to make the final bell.

“I'm here to win this fight… Anyone who's looking past that fact doesn't know me, doesn't know anything about me,” he said.

Meanwhile, the American believes he’ll have a trouble-free press tour, which could cover 5 cities, while promoting the bout with Pacquiao.

He said he is excited to meet the Filipino boxer, who is known for his amiable personality.

“I'm looking forward to meeting Manny, he seems to be a great guy. Everyone I talked to has said the same thing… very respectable humble guy,” said Algieri.
