Top Rank exec projects Pac-Floyd fight next year

MANILA, Philippines – Boxing promoter Bob Arum is currently in the Philippines to hold further discussions with Manny Pacquiao about the latter's bout in November.

Arum said he expects the 8-division champion to rank his three possible opponents by choice.

“I give him the choices, it's like a multiple choice, A, B, C. I tell the strengths and weaknesses of all the three and we ask him who he wants to fight,” the Top Rank CEO told ABS-CBN’s Dyan Castillejo.

“He'll give me the pecking order, 1, 2 and 3 and then I'll try to close the deal to whoever is in No. 1.”

Arum disclosed that the three candidates are Timothy Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez and Miguel Cotto.

Pacquiao has already figured in three controversial fights against Marquez. The last of the trilogy took place in November last year when the Filipino hammered out a unanimous decision.

The fleet-footed Pinoy also soundly defeated Cotto by a 12th round technical knockout in 2009.

Pacquiao, however, lost to Bradley by split decision last June.

Meanwhile, Arum is projecting that Pacquiao could finally have his dream fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2013.

Arum believes that Mayweather’s partnership with rapper-boxing promoter 50 Cent could help materialize the super fight.

“It seems that Mayweather has is own promotional company now... and he has his friend Curtis Jackson, also known as 50 Cent, handling things with him. I'm very optimistic we could put together a match for the spring of next year,” said Arum.
