UST, Enderun register wins in Fr. Martin Cup

MANILA, Philippines -- The Enderun College Titans and the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tiger Cubs turned back separate rivals last Saturday in the 12th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup at the St. Placid gym in San Beda.

The Titans defeated the Letran-A Knights, 68-58, while the Tiger Cubs beat San Benildo, 63-61, during the morning matches of the tournament supported by Bauerfeind health care products.

Mark Gatdula and Errol Villar scored 19 and 15 points, respectively, for Enderun, who picked up their first win in two games in Group A.

Villar and Willie Kamguia struck hard for the Titans in the second half, leading a decisive 9-0 blast which allowed Enderun to widen a 35-32 lead to 12 in the last 2:14 of the third period.

Meanwhile, in the juniors division, Brian Lacap scored 24 points and Clark Ballada added 14 for the Tiger Cubs, with Ballada's two free throws in the last 8.7 seconds making the difference for UST.

In other seniors games, the Ateneo Blue Eagles and the National University Bulldogs beat separate opponents to post their second straight victories in their respective divisions.

The Blue Eagles beat the National College of Business and Arts Wildcats, 73-71, while the Bulldogs stopped the Lyceum Pirates, 59-53.

The Mapua Cardinals leaned on Mark Brana to defeat the St. Benilde Blazers, 85-76.
