MANILA – De La Salle University (DLSU) overcame a sluggish first half to hand Adamson University (AdU) a 67-48 defeat on Saturday at the UAAP men’s basketball tournament.
La Salle’s Kib Montalbo scored 8 of his 18 points in the third quarter when the Green Archers began pulling away for their third victory this season.
Prince Rivero scored 12 points off the bench for the Archers, while Julian Sargent had 8.
Despite leading in all four quarters, the defending champions only managed 23 points against the Falcons’ 18 in the first half.
The Archers picked up the pace in the third canto to widen the gap, 45-29, when Montalbo began connecting his shots.
La Salle further jacked up the lead to 67-39 with Abu Tratter’s slam shutting Adamson out for good.
The Falcons, who only scored 25 in their recent loss to National University, fell to their fifth consecutive defeat in as many starts.
Jansen Rios finished with 11 points for Adamson.
The Archers improved their record to 3-2 and overtook University of the East (2-2) which is in fifth place.
