‘Coach Spo’ greets Llamados
MANILA, Philippines – B-Meg Derby Ace rode on James Yap’s heroics to blast Rain or Shine (RoS), 91-81, in Game 5 of the PBA Governors’ Cup title showdown at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.
The two-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) churned out a game high 30 points and got more than enough support from import Marqus Blakely down the stretch.
Blakely held on despite foul trouble to finish the game with 24 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists.

With the win, the Llamados narrowed their series deficit to 2-3.
"It was our turn to play like wounded tigers," said B-Meg coach Tim Cone in PBA.ph. "I think we came out and played with tremendous energy. It was a matter of getting back to who we are, playing to who we are."
Jamelle Cornley had 25 points and 14 rebounds for the Elasto Painters.
But only Jeffrei Chan and Ryan Arana were able to come up with double figures for the Rain or Shine locals.
Chan tallied 14, while the perimeter-shooting Arana had 11.
Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao remains confident that they will take home the title.
"Na-delay lang, pero amin pa rin ito," he said. “They're bigger and longer than us so we simply have to work harder."
It was a highly physical game from both squads as tempers flared midway the game.
Rain or Shine center Beau Belga was ejected from the court for a hard bump on Blakely with 4:37 left in the third period.
But Blakely managed to keep his focus on the game, even helping Yap pile points against the struggling Painters in the fourth period.
Following B-Meg’s victory, the Llamados got a surprise visit from Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra.
The Filipino-American coach went to the B-Meg locker room to greet the victors.
"The very best part about winning tonight was Coach Spo coming to our locker room after the game. That was really cool," said Cone.
