MANILA, Philippines - Filipina swimmer Jasmine Alkhaldi failed to advance to the semi-finals of the women's 100-meter freestyle event in the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Alkhaldi, swimming in heat 3, clocked in at 57.13seconds, coming in at fifth place and 1.76 seconds behind Eszter Dara of Hungary.
She finished in 34th place in a field of 48 swimmers. Only the top 16 would advance to the semi-finals fo the event.
China’s Yi Tang topped the heats with a time of 53.28 seconds, followed by Melanie Schlanger of Australia with a time of 53.50 seconds.
Alkhaldi joined fellow swimmer Jessie Khing Lacuna, who also failed to make it to the semi-finals. Other Filipinos who have bowed out of the games are lifter Hidilyn Diaz, archer Rachel Cabral and shooter Brian Rosario.
