Bernardino powers NU past UE in women's basketball
MANILA, Philippines – Afril Bernardino had 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists as the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs routed the University of the East (UE) Lady Warriors, 81-59, to stay perfect in the UAAP Season 77 women's basketball tournament Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Gemma Miranda added 12 points and eight boards for the Lady Bulldogs, who out-scored the Lady Warriors 24-6 in the second quarter to put the game away.
NU has now tied defending champion La Salle in first place with its fourth straight victory.
UE, meanwhile, dropped to 1-3 to join the University of Santo Tomas in joint sixth place.
The game was originally scheduled to be held last Thursday at the Blue Eagle Gym, but was called off due to a slippery court. The Lady Bulldogs were leading the Lady Warriors, 6-3, when play was stopped.
