MANILA, Philippines – Vitor Belfort, who is set for a UFC middleweight title challenge against Chris Weidman, has replied to the allegations of his former opponent Luke Rockhold.
Rockhold claimed that Belfort has long been into drugs that his body might not be able to stand without using illegal substances.
Rockhold was referring to Befort's past use of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), which has since been prohibited by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).
"His body is going to fall apart. It's too frail, you know what I mean? He's been doing this shit for too long. And, if he realizes he can't compete off of it,” he said.
But Belfort came up with a retort aimed at Rockhold’s lone defeat in the UFC.
"That playboy is still in shock from the kick. He’s in shock. People are in shock. That’s the word. Lions don’t apologize for being lions. I don’t. It is what it is," he said on "Bloody Elbow."
The kick Belfort talked about was a spinning heel kick he used to drop Rockhold during UFC on FX in 2013.
The 37-year-old Brazilian said he’s not about to let himself bashed by newcomers.
"In 2004, I became the light heavyweight champion. I’m so glad that I’m still here, and I think that affects a lot of people, and give joy to a lot of people. A lot of guys they are just mama’s boys with powder in their butts."
