MANILA, Philippines – Undefeated featherweight Mikey Garcia said his fellow Mexican fighter Jorge Arce will pose a tough challenge against 122-pound king Nonito Donaire.
“Arce has been a tough warrior for the past ten years,” said Garcia in Boxing Scene.
“It’s going to be a challenge for Donaire,” added Garcia, whose brother Robert Garcia, trains the Filipino Flash.
Garcia said Arce has been chasing Donaire for sometime now.
He believes the deal will soon be fixed and that fans will get to see both warriors sharing the same ring.
“It’s just been a matter of business and negotiation issues. Seems like they might get it on this time around. Arce has been a tough warrior for the past ten years.”
Although his heart goes for Arce, Garcia said Donaire is the better boxer, stylistically speaking.
“I think Donaire, however, is probably the smarter, more complete fighter and I think that’s what is going to allow him to win. He’s got skills, speed, power, and overall, I think [he’s] a better fighter than Arce.”
