MANILA, Philippines – Brothers Dodie Boy Jr. and Dave Peñalosa scored knockout victories last weekend at the Mandaluyong City Gym.
Dodie Boy Jr. knocked out last-minute substitute Dicky Amtrian of Indonesia in the third round. The Filipino fighter now has a 12-0 record, with 11 wins coming by knockout.
Ronnie Nathanielsz on Boxing Scene reported that Amtrian was a last-minute replacement, and was clearly overmatched against Dodie Boy Jr. despite the Filipino coming off an eight-month lay-off.
Meanwhile, Dave for a while was tested by Danilo Gabisay, a Baguio-trained fighter. Gabisay dropped Dave in the third round but Peñalosa was quick to recover and dropped his foe with 10 seconds to go as well.
Dave got his knockout in the fifth round when he landed a punch to Gabisay's solar plexus. He now has a record of nine wins with no loss, with six wins coming by knockout.
