MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE) A shakeup has been made in this weekend’s schedule of the 73rd UAAP men’s basketball tournament.

Host De La Salle University (DLSU) announced the switching of two crucial games to make way for the celebration of National University’s (NU) foundation day on Sunday.

The game between defending champion Ateneo Blue Eagles and NU Bulldogs, which was set to be played on Sunday at the Philsports Arena, and the Far Eastern University (FEU)-Adamson University (AdU) tiff on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum were interchanged.

“The change was a request from National University (officials) as they are celebrating their foundation day on August 1, they requested the affected teams if it would be possible to swap schedules to accommodate the above mentioned activity,” UAAP Season 73 basketball tournament director Nongnong Calanog said.

The Blue Eagles and Bulldogs will clash on Saturday, 4 p.m. at the Big Dome in Cubao, Quezon City.

It will be the first game of the Eagles since losing to the DLSU Green Archers last Saturday.

The Ateneo-NU game will be preceded by the 2 p.m. fixture featuring the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors and University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons.

On Sunday, the Tamaraws will go against the Falcons at 2 p.m. at the PhilSports Arena (formerly ULTRA) in Pasig City.

This will be followed by the 4 p.m. contest between the Green Archers and University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers.

FEU, the current standings leader with 4 wins as of July 26, and Adamson were originally slated to play on Saturday.

The undefeated Tamaraws are trailed by the Archers and Falcons, who have identical 3-1 cards.

Defending champion Ateneo, NU and UST have 2 wins and 2 losses while UE and UP are winless at 0-4.  – With a report from Alder T. Almo
