MANILA, Philippines – The Miami Heat's Filipino-American head coach Erik Spoelstra will return to the Philippines for his "NBA Trophy Tour," wherein he will bring the Larry O’Brien championship trophy for Filipino fans to see.
According to NBA Philippines, Spoelstra will be in the country from August 2 to 5.
It will be Spoelstra’s third time to visit the country.
Born to a Filipino mother and an American-Irish-Dutch father, Spoelstra made history last June when he became the first Filipino-American head coach to steer his squad to the championship in any professional sport in the United States.
Spoelstra's Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games in the NBA Finals.
"Coach Spo" will conduct an NBA 3X Clinic for teen boys and girls at the Jose Rizal University on August 2 and host an interactive viewing party at the SM Mall of Asia Center Stage, where the NBA will air one game from the NBA finals.
Spoelstra will provide commentary and insights regarding that game as well as entertain questions from the fans.
Fans can vote on what game will be aired through the NBA Philippines Facebook page from July 27 to August 2. Twenty voters will win a pair of tickets to the viewing party.
