MANILA, Philippines – Four-peat champion San Beda will seek to keep its run going as it squares off against an unpredictable Emilio Aguinaldo College team Monday in the NCAA Season 90 men's basketball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.
The Red Lions are one of the two remaining teams with perfect records, after stringing together four straight wins including a 90-81 victory over Arellano last July 12. A win over the Generals in their 2 p.m. duel will keep the reigning champions on top of the league standings.
The other unbeaten squad is Perpetual Help, with a 3-0 win-loss record.
It will also be a match pitting the league's top big men in San Beda's Ola Adeogun and EAC's Noube Happi.
Adeogun is San Beda's pillar of strength inside, averaging 13 points, 9.25 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game, while Happi norms 14.33 points and a league-high 13.33 rebounds and 1.67 blocks per game.
"It's an interesting match-up, and I think whoever plays better could help in a way in molding the outcome of the game," San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez said of the Adeogun-Happi showdown.
The Generals are also keeping their eye on Baser Amer and Arthur dela Cruz, who scored 18 and 17 points, respectively, in San Beda's emphatic win over the Chiefs.
