MANILA, Philippines – Stars of the National Basketball Association (NBA) have begun arriving in Manila ahead of the Gilas Last Home Stand charity event, where they will play a pair of exhibition games against the Philippine national basketball team.
James Harden of the Houston Rockets arrived in Manila early Monday morning, while other NBA stars including Tyson Chandler, Terrence Ross, Ed Davis and Brandon Jennings are expected to arrive soon as well.
The NBA stars who will play against Gilas on July 22 and 23 are Harden, Chandler, Ross, Davis, Jennings, Blake Griffin, Paul George, Damian Lillard, DeMar DeRozan, Nick Johnson, Kyle Lowry and 2014 Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard.
Meanwhile, Coach John Lucas II, a basketball skills development specialist, will also arrive in the country for the Last Home Stand.
Gilas point guard LA Tenorio said they consider the Last Home Stand a crucial part of their preparations ahead of August's FIBA World Cup.
"We have to take it seriously for us to be ready for the Worlds," said Tenorio. "Hopefully, the players can help us improve on what we need to improve."
