MANILA, Philippines – Super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire Jr. will be too much for Jorge Arce to handle, according to a renowned boxing trainer.

Richard “Rick” Stehaley, former trainer of boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao, said Arce is the type of opponent that will make Donaire look very good.

“I love Jorge Arce, he’s really fun to watch and is one of my favorite fighters but I think Nonito is going to really smash him. I think he’s going to knock him out for sure,” Stehaley told Boxingscene’s Ronnie Nathanielsz.

But for Donaire to look more impressive, Stehaley said the Filipino Flash would need to employ more of his boxing skills rather than relying too much on his counter punching abilities.

“If he boxes more he’s going to have an easier time. He is trying to put on five-star performances every time he goes into the ring and for him a five-star performance is to finish the fight early,” said Stehaley.

Donaire recently unified the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) super bantamweight crowns by beating Jeffrey Mathebula last July 7.
