MANILA, Philippines -- Ateneo guard Kiefer Ravena was showered with chants of "M-V-P! M-V-P!" when he trooped to the free throw line late in the final quarter of their game against La Salle, but for the Blue Eagle star, it is too early in the season.

Ravena exploded for a career-high 29 points -- including four three-pointers in the final quarter -- to help the Blue Eagles to a shock 97-86 win over their archrivals. His two free throws with 1:07 left made it 89-77.

"Ang aga nga eh, aga nga," Ravena said when asked if he heard the 'M-V-P' chants.

"Pero hindi ko naman iniisip 'yun," said Ravena, a former Rookie of the Year. "Kung mangyari man, as long as we win and we win and we win."

He also has a suggestion to the Ateneo crowd.

"Mas maganda nga kapag sinasabi nila na 'W' na lang, kesa tatlong letters. Nahihirapan pa sila eh," he said. "'W, W, W' na lang. Ganun na lang palagi."

He also took the time to praise his teammates, especially Von Pessumal and Ponso Gotladera, who notched career-highs in scoring.

"He kept us in the game, and he was the Von Pessumal that I know since high school," said Ravena of Pessumal, who has been his teammate since they were both in the Blue Eaglets.

Of Gotladera, he said: "Inspired si Ponso. Hindi ko alam kung bakit, pero if we can have him playing like that every time, every single time, it's a plus for us."

The win against the Green Archers gave them a 2-0 win-loss record -- and sent La Salle to a 0-2 hole -- but Ravena cautioned against celebrating too much.

"Malayo pa talaga. There are a lot of things that can happen this season, and we have to take it one game at a time," he said.
